Rave Culture is one of Britain’s great cultural exports, but after its first wave in the late eighties and early nineties, it was soon forced into the underground by stringent new laws and superclubs. But forward 25 years into in the midst of a nationwide purge on the nation’s nightlife, where nearly half of all British clubs have shut down in the last decade, and a new kind of scene has emerged.

Clive Martin investigates this 21st century version of Rave, where young people break into disused spaces with the help of bolt-cutters and complicated squatting laws, to suck on balloons and go hard into the early morning.

But with the police using increasingly extreme tactics to clamp down on these parties, and more than one fatality causing nationwide media panic, can the scene survive?

"The Story of Technoviking": Imagine this: you go dancing at a parade, there you will be filmed and suddenly this movie appears on the net. An artist makes art out of these images. From that moment on, your face buzzes out into the digital world. This case actually exists. The dancer is called Technoviking. He has become a famous figure on the Internet. However, it also raises a lot of questions: What are the boundaries between personality rights and the freedom of art? Can such a phenomenon be curbed at all by legal means? A feature length documentary on the popular Technoviking-Meme, one of the early big video memes on YouTube that ended up in court.

A night in 1997, Manu Le Malin, invited by the Astropolis crew, discovered the Castle of Keriolet, in Concarneau. He was only 26 years old.

Twenty years later, the "enfant terrible" of the french hardcore scene and ravers of the tip of Brittany are an inseparable family. Christophe Lévêque, the hedonistic owner of the castle, keeps on hosting them every year.

To trace the story of Manu Le Malin, we wanted to bring back to Keriolet all of those who were around him these last two decades. A kind of family reunion to tell the story of this strange night owl, that only the light of the day could stop.
Uus dokkari Manu Le Malinista. Kieli ranska, valinnaiset enkkusubit. En oo vielä kattonu, mutta kai tää pitää laittaa jakoon heti :)

Circuit bending 1/2 · 17.5.2017

Mitä ihmettä on ”circuit bending”? Harri Vähänissi tietää mistä tässä bendauksessa on kyse eli miten valmiiden laitteiden ääniä saadaa muunnettua.

Ensi viikolla nähdään minkälaiset jamit lähtee tästä kyseisestä laitteesta.

http://www.phinnweb.org/sahko/sahko_movie.html kirjoitti: SÄHKÖ THE MOVIE

BLAST FIRST PRESENTS:
Sähkö
The Movie
(1995)
featuring
Jimi Tenor, Panasonic, Ø, Hertsi, etc.
44 min video, directed by Jimi Tenor,
shot on 16mm film.
"Shows you what these guys get up to in their native Finland and their
adventures as they attempt to conquer the world, and win!"
Available in PAL format VHS only.
Available only from: Mute Bank Mail Order.

"The packaging is plain white cardboard with a red ink Sähkö stamp on it. Inside, the cassette itself and a small piece of white paper with translations of Finnish dialogue to English.

The film itself is grainy in quality (what would you expect from 16mm), oftentimes it is nearly impossible to tell what is onthe screen. Sound is better, though. There are some whole tracks, but mostly they are just snippets from live performances and recording sessions.

There is absolutely no script whatsoever - the scenes just come one after another. Shots from various studios, live performances and recording sessions. A visit to Kirlian's studio is just a flash of darkness and white keyboard keys. Live at the Limelight. A party in New York. Jimi Tenor playing saxophone in his apartment. A quick explanation of what Sähkö is by Tommi Grönlund. A semi-humorous scene depicting "Holmes," a self-built bass element that allegedlyre produces sound down to 15 Hz; include an experiment with sauna and you have the funny part.

I find the scene about "Liberace", the portable organ most entertaining. I can describe the instrument with words, but it has to be seen before understanding. To me, Sähkö the Movie shed a lot of light on their ideology and approach to music." - Nuutti Meriläinen
