For the past 15 years that we have organized core parties we have had guests from nearly all the continents of this globe. For Africa, however, it has been quite silent, but now is the time to fix the situation, as the Kenyan artist Makossiri, who is touring Europe in the summer, will be our guest in July! Makossiri is one of the pioneers of electronic music and also hardcore techno in East Africa. She has released on Hakuna Kulala (a sublabel of Nyege Nyege Tapes) among other releases. We asked her for a harder set for this party. The party is UG (underground), ie you can get invited to the event by sending us a pm on social media or an e-mail. The full lineup can be found HERE and it will be receiving updates and perhaps some surprises as well.
KOVAWEB catalogue in Bandcamp

Kovaydin.NET’s KOVAWEB catalogue can now also be found on Bandcamp. On the BC site you can find all the releases and on the app you can find most of the releases.

In the future it will be possible to leave a voluntary donation by default on new releases through Bandcamp. All possible donations will be used in hosting and domain costs of the site and if there is extra it will be used in other things like organizing parties. This will be valid especially for all upcoming compilations, but with solo releases it will be negotiable whether the donation option is on or off. All releases will still be downloadable in the usual way through Archive and here and they will have the same CC licenses.

The event will be postponed to 13.05. Friday. The ongoing war in Ukraine directly impacts loved ones of yours truly, who are trapped in the middle of the war, so we are prioritizing our energy in helping. Let’s hope that in May the world will be in a situation when we can come together and dance. Peace, love and hardcore to all.

Due to the current opening time restrictions, dance ban and few other factors the Ratikkacore event will be post-poned to spring. The new date is 12.03.2022.
However, on the eve of 25.09. (note: postponed to Saturday due to weather) there will be some outdoor fun near Hervanta if the weather allows it. Ask your local tekno?♂️?♀️

New sublabel: Ydinväki and its first compilation

VA – Nature Core Compilation (working title) by Ydinväki is looking for submissions by artists!
Ydinväki (ydinvæki) is a sublabel experiment of Kovaydin.NET. While Kovaydin.NET is a netlabel focusing on the local underground electronic *core musicians living in Finland, Ydinväki is a global effort to release *core music inspired by something that is also very dear to many people from Finland – nature.
Track theme examples:
– Your local or global nature/fauna that you feel inspired by.
– Your personal connection with nature or experiences in the nature.
– Indigenous/nature related cultures, in a respectable manner.
(- Must be outside the box from city cultures and usual core music topics and mythologies. This is an effort to rethink what extreme music and nature music can be about.)
Music making process:
– Should be inspired by nature’s rhythms, flow and sounds in some way. Nature can be calm and intense too.
– Use original instruments and/or your recordings, DIY whenever possible. Do not sample other people’s music, lines from movies etc.
– It’s not about entertainment. It’s about creating a special mood.
– Genrewise it could be something along the lines of atmospheric hardcore/speedcore/breakcore, shamancore, experimental psycore, mental tekno, etc., but the genre or scene does not need to be defined as long as it’s inspired by nature and is intense in some way. There are no specific bpm limits.
Format:
– The compilation will be mastered and available as a free download.
– E-mail a link to your track to teknoaidi (ÄT) kovaydin.net in 24-bit/48kHz/-3dB .wav format.
– Don’t compress the master channel.
– Minimum length for the track is 4 minutes and maximum length is 7 minutes.
– The length of the compilation will be 90 minutes or less and tracks are chosen with a whole listening experience in mind.
– Not all tracks will be accepted, so give us your best shot!
Deadline for submissions is 3rd of January 2021. The plan is to release the compilation by early next year (2021) if everything goes well. Looking forward to your submissions! 🙂
