Brainbashers: 2012 Fest
Kovaydin Vastarinta loudly presents:
: 2012 Fest
At Brainbashers events we play hard, fast-paced and sometimes also experimental underground electronic music, which challenges the present-day mainstream’s views of dance music. The present-day, that has forgotten the pulse of intensive tribal dancing that can be felt in ones entire organism. The concept however is not puritanically focused on dance music, the listening experience is also important. Boundaries crossing extreme subgenres of electronic music can be found in for example industrial, digital punk, drum’n’bass, techno, psytrance and avant-garde. The core of the action however has always been hardcore. The speciality of the events has been to offer a wide scale of different *core styles.
Kovaydin Vastarinta has been touring Finland throughout the year 2012 spreading its Brainbashers concept and making people dance to distorted bassdrums. Now the tour culminates in a 2-day underground Brainbashers: 2012 Fest in Kovaydin Vastarinta’s hometown Tampere. Besides 2 nights of partying there will also be workshops held on Saturday afternoon. This will be the final Brainbashers party in the world as we think we know it.

K-levi

Understood the power of dance before he learnt to speak. The nowadays Tampere-based k-levi does not believe in genre restrictions, he lives music with feeling. His partly aggressive style takes inspiration from definitions such as metal, hiphop, dubstep, reggae, dnb, jazz, rock and punk. He has found a common thread from these and strives to put them all together for the delight and annoyance of others.

Mother Mary LIVE [LT]

The Lithuanian musician Mother Mary has been making core music since 2005. She has released her music on the Atrum Artifex Records weblabel as well as on online compilations. She describes her core as dark, industrial, melodic and atmospheric. Her music has a sense of innovativeness, a spirit of experimentalism, breaking boundaries and searching for new things, which are in balance with more usual sounds. Being an independent spirit, Mother Mary has not been part of crew actions. She has played gigs on rare occasions for a few years at underground clubs and outdoor festivals in Vilnius and now we will hear her for the first time in Finland. Lithuania’s best kept secret who has remained in the background will be setting quite a mind explosive set free for the collective consciousness of the Brainbashers visitors!

RujoNic

Jedi Ahvenus aka RujoNic started creating music at the age of 13 when he got his first guitar, but soon after that hardcore music took his heart and he started creating his own sounds with FL studio. Years went by and he started thinking about playing in front of a live audience. In early 2007 RujoNic got his own set of equipment and not long after that he had proved his talent to the Finnish audiences. He’s currently running the Kolina-Produktio club in Tampere and is one of the resident dj’s in Kovaydin Vastarinta’s Brainbashers events. His music consists primarily of breaks influenced core and aggressive distorted basslines as well as experiments with noise and speedcore.

Valovoima LIVE

”I found rhythmic electronic music through industrial/noise culture in early 2000’s. In the year 2005 I found myself at Antenniosasto’s beach party and I was stunned; for once I could hear electronic music that was excessive by all definitions. After this I organized many hardcore techno related events around southern Finland.
Nowadays I don’t have enough time to organize events, so I focus on composing music. I like distortion, low frequencies and floating soundscapes. I also try to mirror these elements in my music.
At Brainbashers: 2012 Fest we’ll see if I succeed!”

Waily b2b Skitzofrenik

Waily:
Ville Immonen has been driven to all kind of music as long as he can remember, but the closest thing to his heart has always been electronic music. After listening hardtrance and hardcore for the very first time… there simply was no turning back.
Main reason for Waily to start Dj’ing was the lack of real Hardcore music in Finland. Waily loves hard banging sounds and that can be seen in his performances. By playing Darkcore and Hardcore with supreme attitude and wild tricks, over the the years he has earned his place as a member & promoter of wellknown finnish hardcore concept: Mindcore. In 2008 Waily joined the Baltic Storm Artist Agency after numerous successful gigs in Estonia. Currently Waily Represents impMusic´s sublabel Hardcore Malice.
Waily has been producing his own sound for more than 10 years, as his main project he produces Hardcore under the name of Waily. In the year 2007 he launched the project Novistador for more darker and evil sounds. Waily has co-ed with many artists such as Dave Dope, Pagan, Nomic, Dj Neon, Input C, Skitzofrenik etc.
Expect some turntablist shit!

Workshops:
Koelse Drum Workshop
At 19:30-20:30, unless otherwise specified!
Koelse’s Drum Workshop is an exploration into the spiritual dimensions of urban space as well as an technological actualization of a shamanistic energy network. A spirit journey will be done through urban space connecting with its spirit powers. During the journey we try to meet your own energy device and open a connection with it.
Koelse’s shamanism team has been researching the connection between shamanism and technology since 2010. The research started due to a disappointment towards traditional shamanism’s way of distancing urbanites from their natural environment. The workshop has been organized before in Helsinki and Berlin.
The workshop is in Finnish and free of cost. There is a limit to the amount of attendees, you can attend by e-mailing oturpe@iki.fi.
Valovoima’s Renoise workshop
UPDATE: The workshop will be moved to about 19 o’clock or early evening and will be held at the backstage.
Renoise is a modern digital music tool which is perfectly suitable for writing rhythmic electronic music. I have used Renoise since the year 2006 and during this time it has developed into a diverse software, which is still maintaining a low processor usage and a good usability. I also teach Renoise because its trial version can be downloaded for free and a 10 update license only costs 58 euros. I especially recommend the workshop for those who have been limited by technological barriers. In other words, the workshop is suitable for beginners. I also try to give advice to those who have worked with other softwares.
